GRADES 8-9

The typical grade 8 or 9 student will complete a program that includes Math, English, Science, and Social Studies with one teacher who provides an overall assignment structure which students are expected to maintain. Students complete additional subjects which include physical education, fine arts, applied skills or languages with other teachers. Parents and students meet with their teacher to plan the program based on the student’s skills and abilities and the provincial standards set out for their grade. Program learning outcomes are determined by provincial regulations of accreditation as determined by the Ministry of Education.

All courses are delivered online and most full-time students will complete their courses in an asynchronous environment. As a group however, our grade 8 and 9 Full Time students meet weekly in-person or in an online classroom. Field trips and clubs are also offered to these students. Flexibility and individuality are based on the student’s needs.

GRADES 10-12

Students entering the graduation program in grades 10-12 will need to complete a minimum of 80 credits prior to graduation. All  vLearn courses are delivered online and in an asynchronous manner. Students can work though courses at a pace that fits their needs. Students may elect to take a full time program online or may opt to take individual online courses to supplement a face to face school program. All students are required to show continuous engagement in their learning in order to remain enrolled in our programs. All students should meet with their teacher or counselor before determining their program each year and should work toward a personalized program that helps them maximize their potential.

Teaching is provided by subject area specialists who have formal training in the delivery of online curriculum. Feel free to speak directly to any of our online specialists if you have questions about specific courses.
