Building Collective Efficacy: What process did your school take in developing your School Growth Plan?

Staff collaborated and reviewed current school evidence to identify successes and challenges facing vLearn students. Goals were aligned to SD22 Strategic Plan pillars of Student Success, Leadership Excellence, and Community Connections.

Evidence-Informed: What data is driving your goal(s)?

The following sources of evidence were and will continue to be used to inform decision making and goal setting/reflection: numeracy and literacy data from EdPlan Insight, Learning Update trends in literacy and numeracy, Indigenous and Inclusion student performance trends, Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA), vLearn parent and student surveys, BC Ministry of Education and Child Care Student Learning Survey, qualitative student information, Middle Years Development Insturment (MDI), and Youth Development Instrument (YDI).

Student Success

Student Success To provide many pathways for all students to pursue and achieve desired outcomes.

School Goal

Ensure student’s basic needs (self-actualization, esteem, belonging, security, physiological) are fulfilled before the pursuit of academic learning by promoting wellness and encouraging a balance between academic and personal responsibilities.

Actions: What will we do to support all learners?

* create personalized learning plans that meet students where they are at promoting engaging, meaningful learning opportunities * increase opportunities for students to reflect on their learning identifying opportunities for growth * offer more opportunity for small group instruction * increase awareness of available community supports * improve responsiveness and effectiveness of School Based Team * encourage student involvement, autonomy and ownership of graduation plans * Customize courses to reflect Indigenous Ways of Learning * Collect data to identify target and success measures, and monitor progress towards reaching those targets

Reflections & Results:

This is a new school goal as of September 2023. School community will engage in reflecting and reviewing progress in June 2024.

Leadership Excellence

To empower all staff to contribute to organizational excellence in the service of student success.

Staff to be knowledgeable of the resources, processes, and platforms available to promote personalized growth of students and staff.

Actions: What will we do to support all learners?

* Foster collaboration * Recognize and appreciate the contribution of students, teachers, and community members * Professional development in the use of up-to-date and accessible technologies to support best teaching and learning practices * Celebrate the victories! * Open lines of communication * Encourage student ownership and involvement in developing learning plans * Create opportunities for students to; take the lead, share their learning, plan events, make decisions, be active in the community

Community Connections

To build strong relationships amongst all community members in the service of student success.

Provide a collabortive learning program that supports strong partnerships with local experts and allies, indigenous communities, and families in the pursuit of student success.

Actions: What will we do to support all learners?

* establish and grow a positive and collaborative relationship with Indigenous students, families and community * foster a sense of belonging for all students * promote the active participation of families in school events * continue to offer in-person learning activities that foster community connection * incorporate First Peoples Principles of Learning in online courses and in-person learning activities * equip students with the knowledge and skills to identity and remove barriers to inclusive engagement and cultivate an inclusive community
